Waiver-Eligibility
IMJSTB offers waivers of the article processing charge (APC) to authors from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) who meet the following criteria:
- The author must be affiliated with an institution in an LMIC.
- The author must have an annual income of less than 12,000 USD Dollars.
- The author must not have published more than five papers in indexed journals in the past five years.
Waiver Request
To request a waiver, authors must submit a waiver application form along with the following documents:
- A letter from the author's institution stating that the author is affiliated with an LMIC.
- A copy of the author's most recent tax return or other documentation showing the author's annual income.
- A list of the author's published papers in indexed journals in the past five years.
Waiver Decisions
Waiver applications will be reviewed by the IMJSTB editorial board. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Waiver Notification
Authors will be notified of the decision on their waiver application within two weeks of submission.
Waiver Renewal
Waivers are valid for one year. Authors who wish to renew their waiver must submit a new waiver application form one year before the expiration date of their current waiver.
Waiver Terms and Conditions
- Authors who receive a waiver are still responsible for the cost of publication, including the cost of color figures and other optional services.
- Authors who receive a waiver must acknowledge the waiver in the published article.
- IMJSTB reserves the right to revoke a waiver if the author fails to meet the eligibility criteria or if the author does not comply with the terms and conditions of the waiver.
